Many people still believe that yoga is all about unpleasant and complicated contortions. But that’s not quite true. Because there are also many yoga exercises that work with very gentle stretches and are often performed in a seated position.

Therefore you don’t need much body awareness at the beginning, nor do you need an above-average flexibility to start with your first yoga exercises. However, it is important that you try to feel the stretching. You should try to get deeper and deeper into the respective position over time. It is also very important in yoga to take even and deep breaths. This gives you a very good feeling for your body and teaches you to concentrate better.

The Best Simple Yoga Exercises

There are many simple yoga exercises for beginners that focus largely on stretching in a single joint. This makes them easy for beginners to do. In addition, many simple yoga exercises are performed while sitting. This way you don’t have to keep your balance, but can concentrate fully on your exercise.

To practice the butterfly, sit upright and bend both your knees and hips. Now put both soles of your feet together. Now try to move your knees as far as possible to the ground by lightly pressing on your thighs. You should work with very light and springy pressure. Try to stay in this position for about 60-90 seconds.

The bow begins in the prone position. First you bend your leg as far as possible. Then you almost reach behind your back with your hands and try to grab your legs at the ankle. When that is done, try a few gentle rocking movements. Again, hold for between 60-90 seconds.

The tree is performed while standing. The feet should be parallel to each other and the back should be straight. Now shift your weight to the left foot and place the right foot on the inside of the left thigh. Now bring your two hands together in front of your chest so that the palms of your hands touch each other. Then slowly move your hands up over your head. Make sure that the hands touch during the entire exercise and hold the position for 60-90 seconds.

It is of course important that you continue to breathe evenly and never hold your breath.
